This Privacy Policy explains how information about you is collected, used and disclosed by Gentex Corporation and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies ("Gentex," “We,” “Our” or “Us”) when you download, access or otherwise use the website located at https://connect.homelink.com/ (or any successor links) and all associated web pages, websites, and social media pages (the “Site”), the HomeLink hardware products, the HomeLink mobile application (the “App” or “Application”), and the services accessible through the Site, and the HomeLink services, (collectively, “Services”).

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If We make changes, We will notify you by revising the date at the top of the policy and, in some cases, We may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to Our homepage or sending you an email notification). We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you access the HomeLink App to stay informed about Our information practices and the ways you can help protect your privacy. We may provide different or additional notices of Our privacy practices for certain other products, services or activities, in which case those notices will supplement or replace the disclosures in this Privacy Policy. Collection of Information

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you provide directly to Us, such as when you create an account, connect or configure your home automation systems or devices, request customer support, or otherwise communicate with Us. The types of information We may collect include your name, email address, password, home automation system information, information about your vehicle (such as make and model), and other information We request or that you choose to provide.

Automatically Collected Information

When you access or use Our Services, We automatically collect information about you, including:

  • Log Information: We log information about your use of HomeLink Services, including the type of browser you use, app version, access times, pages viewed, your IP address and the page you visited before navigating to Our Site or App.
  • Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access Our Services, including the hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers and mobile network information.
  • Home Automation System: We collect information about the home automation systems and products that you integrate with Our Services.
  • Vehicle Information: We may collect information about the vehicle you use the Services in when you use the button in your vehicle to trigger Our Services.
  • Information Collected by Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies: Like most online services and mobile applications, We may use cookies and other technologies, such as web beacons, and web storage, to collect information about your interactions with Our Services. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that helps Us to improve Our Services and your experience, see which areas and features of the HomeLink Connect Site and App are popular and count visits. We may also collect information using web beacons (also known as "tracking pixels"). Web beacons are electronic images that may be used in HomeLink Services and help deliver cookies, count visits, and understand usage and campaign effectiveness. Information We Derive

We may derive information or draw inferences about you based on the information we collect. For example, we may make inferences about your approximate location based on your IP address.

Use of Information

We may use information about you for various purposes, including to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve Our Services;
  • Send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and requests and provide customer service;
  • Send newsletters and otherwise communicate with you about products, services, offers, promotions, rewards, and events offered by Gentex and others, and provide news and information We think will be of interest to you;

Disclosure of Information

In certain circumstances, We disclose information about you. We may disclose information about you as follows or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy:

  • With vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on Our behalf;
  • If you choose to use or implement third party integrations to use with our Services or with other third parties, such as a smart home platforms, smart garage door openers or other IoT devices, or voice assistants, we may disclose certain information to the entity and/or device you integrated with our Services;
  • With Our advisors and consultants;
  • In response to a request for information if We believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law or legal process, including lawful requests by public authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements;
  • If We believe your actions are inconsistent with Our user agreements or policies, or to protect the rights, property and safety of Gentex or others;
  • In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of Our business to another company;
  • Between and among Gentex and Our current and future parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and other companies under common control and ownership; and

We may also disclose aggregated or anonymized information that does not directly identify you. We will not attempt to re-identify such information, except as permitted by law.

Targeted Advertising and Analytics Services Provided by Others

We may allow third parties to provide analytics services, serve advertisements, and perform related services for Us across the web and in mobile apps. These entities may use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers, and other technologies to collect information about your use of HomeLink Services and other websites and mobile apps, including your IP address, web browser, pages viewed, time spent on pages, links clicked and conversion information. This information may be used by Gentex and others to, among other things, deliver advertisements targeted to your interests on other companies’ sites, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content, and deliver content targeted to your interests with respect to HomeLink Services and other websites and better understand your online activity. You can also learn more about interest-based ads or opt out of having your web browsing information used for behavioral advertising purposes by companies that participate in the Digital Advertising Alliance by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices if you reside in the United States.

In addition to cookie-based ad targeting, We may disclose identifiers, like email addresses, to some of Our advertising providers. These advertising providers translate that information into a unique identifier that can then be used to show ads that are more relevant to you across the web and in mobile apps.

Depending on where you reside, you may have additional choices available to you with respect to practices described in this section, which are set out below in the Opting Out of Targeted Advertising, Sharing, and Sales section below.

Transfer of Information to the U.S. and Other Countries

Gentex is based in the United States and We process and store information in the U.S. and other countries. Therefore, We and Our service providers may transfer your information to, or store or access it in, jurisdictions that may not provide equivalent levels of data protection as your home jurisdiction. We will take steps to ensure that your personal data receives an adequate level of protection in the jurisdictions in which We process it.

Account Information

If you have any questions about the information processed by Our Services or if you would like to update, correct or delete your account information, you may be able to do so by directly accessing your account, or you can email Us at hlc.support@gentex.com. Note that We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, and there may be some cases in which We cannot provide access to certain information. We may require you to verify your identity before We provide you with access to your personal information.

Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to analyze visits and use of Our Services and how consumers are interacting with Our marketing communications. You can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. Please note that if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect the availability and functionality of Our Services.

Promotional Communications

You may opt out of receiving promotional emails from Gentex by following the instructions in those emails or by emailing Us. If you opt out, We may still send you non-promotional communications, such as those about your account or Our ongoing business relations.

Mobile Push Notifications/Alerts

We may send push notifications to your mobile device if you use Our App. You can deactivate these messages at any time by changing the notification settings on your mobile device.

Residents of Certain U.S. States

Certain U.S. states, including California, have enacted consumer privacy laws that grant their residents certain rights and require additional disclosures (“State Laws”). If you are a resident of one of these states, this section applies to you.

Other Details about Our Information Practices

  • We collect personal information directly from you (for example, when you create an account and make a purchase), automatically when you access or use Our Services and from third-party sources such as Our business partners, each described in more detail in the Collection of Information section above.
  • We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you.
  • We do not knowingly collect, sell, or share personal information about consumers under the age of 16.
  • We store personal information associated with your account for as long as your account remains active. If you close your account, We will delete your account data within 30 days; otherwise, We will delete your account data after two years of inactivity. We retain personal information for as long as necessary to carry out the purposes for which We originally collected it and for other purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Your Privacy Rights

Opting Out of Targeted Advertising, Sharing, and Sales

Some of the activities described in the Targeted Advertising and Analytics Services Provided by Others section above may be considered “sales” or “sharing” of your personal information or use of your information for “targeted advertising” under the law that applies to you.

You can opt out of cookie-based ad targeting by emailing Us at hlc.support@gentex.com. You may need to renew your opt-out choice if you visit Our Site from a new device or browser or if you clear your cookies because your opt-out choice will be linked to your browser only.

Access, Deletion, and Correction

Depending upon where you reside, you may have the right to (1) request to know more about and access your personal information, including in a portable format, (2) request deletion of your personal information, and (3) request correction of inaccurate personal information. To request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information, email Us at hlc.support@gentex.com. You can also access, correct, or delete certain information stored within your online account by logging into your account.

We may verify your request by asking you to provide information related to your recent interactions with Us, such as providing information about last product purchased and date of such purchase.

Authorized Agents

If you reside in California, Colorado, or Connecticut, you can designate an authorized agent to submit a privacy rights request on your behalf. We may ask authorized agents to submit proof of their authority to make the request, such as a valid power of attorney or proof that they have signed permission from the individual who is the subject of the request. In some cases, We may contact the individual who is the subject of the request to verify his or her own identity or confirm the authorized agent has permission to submit the request. Appeals

If We deny your request, you may appeal Our decision by contacting Us at hlc.support@gentex.com. If you have concerns about the results of an appeal, you may contact the attorney general in the state where you reside.

Nondiscrimination
